Unique

Unique. That's you.

There's no one quite like you. Your appearance, your voice, abilities, and interests are all uniquely yours. The way you think, the way you view others, and the way you perceive the world around you are all uniquely adapted to you.

True, you bear certain similarities to others in your family, and you exhibit traits that are shared by many around the world. That's not a bad thing! Saying that you have "a lot in common" with family, friends, or co-workers is simply acknowledging that your development in life was influenced as much by your experiences, learning, and interactions with others as it was by your birth and upbringing.

But commonality doesn't negate uniqueness. Instead, it works like soil, creating an immense, broad field from which grows originality and new ideas. And you the person -- the unique you -- are not the sum of your experiences and influences.

Who you are is determined by your ideas, actions, decisions, and direction.

Maybe some of your decisions and actions haven't exactly born the fruit you'd hoped for. Be encouraged. That's true for all of us. As long as you're still breathing, there's probably still time to change, to do something different.

It's because of where you are in life that you have within you both old dreams and new ideas. It's because of how you got there that you have before you new opportunities.  The ideas and opportunities, when they come, are yours! And in those inspired, this-idea-just-popped-into-my-head moments, they are truly original.

Therefore, whether or not the idea is something that "no one has ever thought of before" is not important. What's important is that the idea came to you. You are original. And whether or not someone has "already done it before" is not important. What's important is whether or not you will do it -- and do it to the best of your common -- and uncommon -- abilities.
