This simplified daisy looks back to something I learned from my high school art teacher, Mr. Shaheen.
“Pointillism” (which is what I use here in a simple, quick form) is the technique of applying dots of color in specific patterns to create an image. I remember Mr. Shaheen teaching us this process of rendering work in “dot” form instead of lines. I was impressed with the finished look! That's kind of appropriate since Pointillism developed in the late 1860s under Seurat and Signac as an offshoot of Impressionism. Now, I know -- there’s no color in this image. But the principle is the same, a principle that, by the way, is still in use today. The colors you see on your computer screen are actually very, VERY tight dot patterns of color. And the colors in the magazine or newspaper you’re reading are also printed using very tight dot patterns. Just take a closer look sometime.
