I let this blog go three years ago. Well, I'm back.
In March of 2018, I applied for, and accepted, a part-time position as an Ohio-registered technician with the Kroger Pharmacy in my hometown of Harrison, Ohio. I needed the PT income and the location was close to home, plus the pharmacy trains you on the job. Seemed like a good fit.
It took three months to get through the security and background check process, so I didn't actually start work until June of that year. But during the three-month interval, I subconsciously shifted my mindset from that of the writer and working for myself to working for an employer. I still researched and talked to people, thinking I would post from time to time -- but I never did.
I started the job and the training and I quickly found myself mentally and physically worn out. In less than 6 months part-time became full-time. By the end of the year, I'd lost 15-20 lbs! But my time for interviewing and blogging had become "no time at all."
Back to the Drawing Board
In December of this year (2021 -- three years later) I finally went back to a reduced schedule. With more time on my hands, I decided maybe I should get back to work doing what I REALLY love -- writing and drawing.
MEANWHILE, my wife (whom I featured in a blog post on this site in 2017) had continued working all this time as a photographer. A couple years back she changed her business name from Barb Carmen Photography to Barb Carmen Pet Portraits. She did some work with a kitten rescue and with her pet focus, the pandemic really did not affect her that much.
Now that 2022 is right around the corner she and I have both decided, as professionals, we need a NEW challenge. She needs to expand her portfolio and I need to get back to creating.
The 100 Day Challenge
Between now and the end of March 2022 we'll each be creating 100 pieces (of art or photography) in 100 days. She'll be concentrating on photos of flowers. I'll be concentrating on drawings of, well, whatever comes to mind. Her challenge is called A Glimpse of Creation and her work will feature mainly on her Facebook page (with some appearing on her website). My challenge is called Back to the Drawing Board and my work will appear here (with some in other places, including the occasional post on her Facebook page).
Let's see what happens!
